I was inspired to make this Prosciutto Brussels Sprouts Pizza with the fresh, local ingredients I found at North Market, a historic indoor market located in the heart of Columbus.
My new friend Kate, from Cook.Eat.Explore, finally took me to North Market. I say finally, because the first time was a disaster. She made the comment, as we were leaving a #cbusfoodblogger event in the Italian Village that morning, that she needed to stop by North Market for bacon. My first thought was ‘Great! I can check it out while she shops.’ What I had not anticipated was the horrendous parking on a busy Saturday.

She tosses me the keys, says to watch the car, and she will be right back. I was too stunned to speak. Until I realized she had just ditched me! After 20 seconds, I immediately started out after. Approximately 50 feet later, I lost her in the crowd. My only choice was to wait less than patiently by the front door. In her defense, she had no idea it was my first time there. We immediately set a date to come back during the week when it was less busy.
Fast forward to our real trip. It is everything I hoped and more. North Market is nothing like my farmers markets in Arizona, which is what I was anticipating. It is an indoor market comprised of multicultural eateries, shops, and local vendors hawking everything from artisan bread, to cheese, pickles, and of course wine. Several hours later we wandered out and I had everything you need to make this Prosciutto Brussels Sprouts Pizza. Including fresh mushrooms, ginger, garlic, and honey! I promise it is a delightful pairing with the prosciutto di parma.
What seasonal recipes are you making right now? Which farmers market goodies are you most looking forward too?
