Why not give fall flavors a kick in the ass with this naturally sweet Slow Cooker Chipotle Apple Butter recipe made with no added sugar and a little bit of smokey heat?!
Don’t you love when an idea works out just the way you had hoped?! Recently I did a two-week sugar detox and it REALLY opened my eyes about the amount of sugar we consume on a regular basis. Sure we eat mostly real food, but sugar is sneaky and hides everywhere. It’s not realistic to eliminate all sugar from your diet, but being aware makes it easier to cut back.
Slow Cooker Chipotle Apple Butter
Making apple butter in the slow cooker is one of my favorite fall activities. I say that because it is so easy to make and tastes amazing. This recipe is so easy you don’t even have to peel your apples. Yep, I was that lazy with this Slow Cooker Chipotle Apple Butter recipe! Basically you cook the apples down with the peels on, then either put the mixture through a food mill or mash it with a spoon through a strainer. That second option comes in handy when you are working with limited kitchen gadgets.
We love to smear this Slow Cooker Chipotle Apple Butter recipe on toast, add a spoonful to oatmeal, and my next project Chipotle Apple Butter Turnovers! A note on the chipotle aspect of this recipe. It’s not spicy at all, but definitely has a smoky quality that really balances with the sweetness of the apples. I used a combination of Granny Smith, Red Delicious, and Honeycrisp apples. Apples have plenty of natural sugar which is why I didn’t add anymore!
