If you want to be the star of backyard BBQs, make this Sweet Tangy Barbecue Vinaigrette with hints of brown sugar, garlic, and fresh black pepper. Drizzle this dressing over your favorite salad for a summer-ready show stopper.
Spring is in full force here in Columbus. The blooming greenery makes me think of long summer days, and backyard barbecues with friends. We love all kinds of barbecue sauces, from tangy Carolina style, all the way to thick, sweet Memphis style. You can slather it on grilled chicken, or a pulled pork sandwich, and I am a happy gal. Even baked beans are a great vehicle for a smoky sauce.
Sweet Tangy Barbecue Vinaigrette
Why isn’t this wonderful condiment the star of the show though? Since I love to make crazy dressings for my salads, like this Mole Vinaigrette. Why not make a Sweet Tangy Barbecue Vinaigrette to drizzle over slightly boring salads?! Because of this recipe, I will never look at barbecue the same way again folks.
You can make this recipe one of two ways. Either 100% from scratch, or you can take a shortcut like I did, and make a semi-homemade version. Now you know what to do with that last little bit of deliciousness lingering in the bottom of that bottle of barbecue sauce. Plus, you already know you like the flavor. I have an idea for a wholly homemade version, but that is for another day!
So for now, we are sticking with the I’m-so-hungry-I-need-it-now version. My Sweet Tangy Barbecue Vinaigrette has thick, rich, Texas-inspired BBQ sauce mixed with a little cider vinegar, garlic, and a dash of Dijon. The brown sugar sweetness of the sauce balances out the acidic vinegar, and plenty of fresh black pepper gives it a real kick.
What is your favorite kind of salad dressing. Are there any crazy flavor combos you have come up with?
