1 16 oz. package breakfast sausage
¼ cup flour
3-3½ cups warm milk*
2 tsp. fresh ground black pepper
½ tsp. red pepper flake
1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add sausage to the pan, breaking it up. Add red pepper flake. Cook until browned, approximately 7-8 minutes.
2. Reduce heat to medium low, add flour and cook for an additional minute.
3. Slowly add the milk, stirring to combine thoroughly. Cook for approximately 10-12 more minutes until thickened, stirring frequently. *Adjust the amount of milk to get desired consistency.
4. Sprinkle in black pepper. Serve immediately over biscuits or toast.
