Get your guy off the couch this weekend and try one of these 10 Lazy Man Approved Things to do in Phoenix!
I married a lazy man. Don’t get me wrong, Monday through Friday Paul is the hardest working guy I know but off the clock he becomes at-one with the couch. You can’t really blame him though, it’s tough to get motivated after a long work week. Add in school and he is one busy guy.
Ask him what he wants to do on a Saturday afternoon and you will be graced with a blank stare. That’s assuming he tears his gaze away from whichever electronic device happens to be in his hand. Yes, ladies and gentlemen… my husband is a gamer. I don’t begrudge him his favorite hobby but man cannot survive on Xbox alone.
In my quest to break the bond between man and furniture, I found 10 lazy man approved things to do in Phoenix.
My husband has been a baseball fanatic since he was a little boy. As an Arizona native he is a die-hard Diamondbacks fan. There is something about being at the ballpark that brings him alive. He would happily sit in the stands for every game; munching on a ballpark hot dog, sipping icy cold beer and rooting for his home team. With 162 regular season games between April and September there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy America’s favorite pastime!
Arizona Distilling Company
What’s better than a tumbler of whiskey served neat? Locally made, small-batch craft whiskey. This fun find had me excited from the get-go. Arizona Distilling Company is a community-based micro-distillery located in downtown Tempe with a flair for libations rooted in local culture. Take a tour, sample products and learn how prohibition in the Old West influenced their creation. 21+ Lazy Man activity
C2 Tactical Range
As veterans, Paul and I both have experience with firearms. An afternoon at the range is a lazy man approved, adrenaline filled thrill. C2 Tactical Gun Range, located in Tempe near IKEA is a great facility offering everything from concealed weapons classes, to private shooting lessons and weekly competitions. They offer retail and gunsmith services too. You can even get married or renew your wedding vows with a shotgun wedding!
Trapped in a Room With a Zombie
When I asked Paul if he wanted to spend time in a room with a zombie he looked at me with joyful speculation. I swear the man prays for a real-life apocalypse so he can unleash his inner Rick Grimes. For him The Walking Dead isn’t just a great TV show, his dedication is borderline zealous.
Trapped in a Room With a Zombie, located in Ahwatukee, is a cool interactive theatrical show where a team of participants are placed in a roomful of flesh hungry undead and tasked with finding their way out in under an hour. The only way to escape is by working together to solve clues and riddles hidden throughout the venue. Just like any zombie scenario if you get ‘bitten’ you are out of commission, luckily you can still offer loved ones verbal support in the hopes they escape unharmed.

We live in the middle of the desert. Why spend the afternoon lazing away on the couch when you could be floating on a lake, wind gently blowing across your face. Visit Pleasant Harbor Marina in Peoria and take a relaxing 90 minute cruise of Lake Pleasant on ‘The Phoenix’ with your lazy man. Learn about the history of the surrounding area and it’s inhabitants while enjoying snacks and drink specials at the (cash only) open bar.
Desert Botanical Garden Flashlight Tours
There are few things as beautiful as viewing an Arizona sunset with your better half. During summer, twilight hours are when people begin to emerge from frigid, air conditioned dwellings to explore the outdoor delights of the Southwest. Visit Desert Botanical Gardens, located in Phoenix, for a sensory filled nighttime adventure exploring a variety of discovery stations by flashlight.
Having fun doesn’t mean you have to break the bank. I love apps like Groupon and Living Social for deals. Many of these activities have current discounts available online. Which lazy man activity are you going to check out first!
