My name is Loriann and it’s alway Thyme for Cocktails! Welcome to my Empty Nest Lifestyle blog! I love a good strong drink and shopping for two at the farmers market. My husband Paul and I are enjoying a new vagabond life full of culture, travel, and entertaining in Columbus, Ohio.
More About Me
I grew up in the midwest where I studied art in college before joining the Army. My son Nick was born while I was stationed in southern Alabama. My college studies continued while in the service, but business was my focus. A job in higher education brought me to Phoenix, AZ in late 2000. Mid 2006 Paul and I starting working together in education, but we lost touch when he left the company. In 2014 a funny twist of fate brought us together and that was it! Paul is my rock and keeps me anchored. Marriage is much different later in life though, we aren’t 22 anymore.
Nick left in August 2016 for his own adventure in the Army and we are so proud of him! Shortly after that a series of events made us realize we had the freedom to relocate. In January 2017 Paul and I decided to leave Arizona. Less than three weeks later we sold basically everything we owned and hit the road for Columbus, Ohio. We are living in a hotel as we learn our new city and establish a new life for ourselves.
Empty Nest Lifestyle
I have my MBA with a healthy dose in advanced marketing. I began a career as a professional blogging after losing my job in high education. Rather than lend my skills to a new employer I took the plunge as an entrepreneur. The experience has opened a whole new world full of amazing career opportunities and I truly enjoy being a digital content marketer. In addition, for the last several months I have been working as a PT Editor with the team who runs SoFabFood. You will find many of my cocktail recipes over there!
Things need to change with the Thyme for Cocktails to coincide with our new empty nest life. We go out more, drink more, and entertain more. Paul and I couldn’t be happier with the culture of Columbus and hotel living has some pretty amazing advantages. I still adore the farmers market and support local business. I am with a great food group the CbusFoodBloggers. It has been an incredible way to delve into the food scene here.
My goal is to transition away from cooking big family meals without sacrificing the family-style dining experience. Expect more cocktails, travel experiences, and ways to acclimate to an empty nest lifestyle.
