Creating digital content centered around food and beverages means following trends, including national food holidays. Did you hear out that awesome donut day last week? My friend Kate at Cook.Eat.Explore is just as dorky as me about things like observing tasty foodie days.
International Sushi Day
International Sushi Day is one of her favorites, and we were going to celebrate with a gals outing on June 18th, but she is actually going to be visiting friends in sunny AZ! I’ve already given her tips on my favorite sushi places in Phoenix. In the meantime we decided to get our spicy tuna roll on early. We thought about going out, but we’ve both been super busy away from home lately.
Instead she grabbed take-out from her favorite place and I grabbed the drinks for a little at-home happy hour action. I tried Sapporo beer for the first time a few years ago the same night I tried sushi. The two go hand in hand in my book, two harmonious Japanese traditions that pair perfectly together. Sapporo’s delicious flavor profile was the perfect pairing to our sushi and conversation.
Paul’s new 12:30-9pm schedule has put a real damper on my photography opportunities. So I jumped at the chance to shoot this gorgeous spread at Kate’s place for you folks. I might be a little shy about trying some of the more elevated types of sushi, but I love to look at them. They are works of art.
The flavors are just as intense and bright as the color. Much like the premium quality of Sapporo beer. My favorite part of our at-home International Sushi Day experience was practicing with chop sticks. We both admit we are beginners and gave up after a fews tries. After that it was a free for all of giggles and finger food! lol
What are your plans for International Sushi Day? Are you going out to enjoy a premium bottle of Sapporo beer or staying in for an evening of delicious eats and frosty cold beer?
