Tips for Finding Balance In A Busy Day
Most of the time when I am sharing a story about the casa crew you read about Paul’s busy work schedule or how I still can’t believe the kid is leaving in 75 days for basic training. They are my life so it makes sense they would be at the center of things.

But today I want to share something personal about myself. I have been in pain for the majority of my life. The kind of minor pain that lingers in your joints, causing an inconvenience more than anything else.
tip #1 Schedule time for yourself
Like 53 million other Americans I suffer the effects of minor arthritis.
When I was a kid, grade-school age, I can remember lying awake at night unable to sleep because my legs hurt. My mom would tell me stories about a little man who was running around inside of me, helping to manage my achy joints.
tip #2 Keep an up-to-date calendar of events
The general assumption was I had standard teenage growing pains. Then one day my freshman year of high school I was sitting at lunch when I started to feel hot all over and a little woozy. My legs hurt and my knees were red and swelling quickly. One trip to the doctor later and we had a general diagnosis, mild arthritis.
tip #3 Learn to say no
Jump ahead to my early twenties to my Army career, an amazing experience that left me with a herniated disc, nerve damage and arthritis in my lower back. Like many physically strenuous careers, being a soldier puts wear and tear on a body. But I was a new mom and determined not to miss out on any of it!
Now I am in my early 40’s spending the next 75 days with my kid before he takes off. Working side by side with Paul building businesses we didn’t even know we wanted! 9-5 corporate schedules have been replaced with 10+ hour, 7-day work weeks where we are lucky to get 5 hours sleep a night.
These Tips for Finding Balance In A Busy Day and Advil with the new EZ open cap help keep me on track. EZ open cap is perfect for people struggling with arthritis.
Blogging reminds me of grad school and late nights writing paper after paper. Those times when you have been on your laptop so long your shoulders ache and your fingers feel frozen in place. Basically the way I feel right now!
tip #4 Pay attention to what your body is telling you
But it is more than sitting in front of the computer. It is hours cooking, cleaning, and crouching in weird positions to take pictures. My job gives me the flexibility to work with Paul on a job site. And Advil from my local Walmart keeps the aches at bay and helps me go from home office to job site to kitchen. Nothing’s proven stronger on arthritis and other joint pain.*
Maintaining a healthy balance between work and home means I won’t miss out on making memories with the ones I love. Part of that are these Tips for Finding Balance In A Busy Day. Because at the end of the day there is still the business of family life to tackle!
tip #5 Enjoy life
*For minor arthritis pain. Among OTC pain relievers.
