DIY Cake Pop Bar

With a DIY Cake Pop Bar guests can customize yummy cake pops with their favorite fall goodies!


  • 1 15-ounce box cake mix
  • 1/3 cup applesauce
  • 1 cup apple drink
  • 3 medium eggs
  • 2/3-3/4 cup cream cheese canned frosting
  • 2 cups white baking chips
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening
  • Desired toppings
  • Cake pop sticks


  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9x13 inch baking dish with non-stick spray.
  • In a large bowl stir together cake mix, apple sauce, apple drink and eggs. Mix 2-3 minutes until smooth.
  • Bake 25-30 minutes, do not over bake. Let cake cool.
  • Add cake to a large bowl and crumble up, mix in frosting. Beat with a hand mixer until throughly combined, should be the consistency of thick cookie dough. Adjust the amount of frosting as necessary.
  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Roll cake mixture into desired sized balls, approximately 1 tablespoon each and place on parchment. Chill 30 minutes.
  • Melt baking chips according to package directions, stir in shortening. Dip end of cake pop stick in melt topping, insert stick into cake ball. Repeat for each cake pop.
  • Dip cake pops in mixture to coat, gently shake off excess topping.
  • Immediately roll in desired toppings. Let rest until set.
